Catarina Avelino graduated in Applied Mathematics at Faculty of Science of University of Porto in 1995 and in 1998 finished her MSc degree at the same University. In 2004 finished her PhD in Applied Mathematics at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of University of Coimbra.

Presently she is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics of Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal, and a researcher of CMAT-UTAD and CEMAT. Current interests include: optimization; statistics; combinatorial geometry and topology.
